Apple announced on Monday that Gianandrea, the senior vice president responsible for machine learning and artificial intelligence strategy, will step down from his current position. Before retiring in the spring of 2026, he will continue to serve the company as an advisor. His successor is the well-known artificial intelligence researcher Sabiramanian, who has previously worked at Deepmind and Microsoft. He will report directly to the head of the software department, Federich. Sabiramanian will be responsible for several key areas, including Apple's base models, machine learning research, and artificial intelligence safety and evaluation.
