Spanish Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, stated on the 1st that it is necessary to be vigilant to prevent African swine fever from entering commercial pig farms in the country's mountainous areas where cases have recently been reported. The Spanish government held an emergency meeting that day to report on the situation of African swine fever cases in Catalonia. Planas called on all sectors of society to remain calm, emphasizing that African swine fever will not affect human health.
