According to CNN, citing sources familiar with the matter, US President Trump will hold a meeting at the White House on Monday evening local time to discuss the next steps in relation to Venezuela. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 5 PM Eastern Time in the Oval Office, and is expected to be attended by key members of the cabinet and national security team, including Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller will also be present. The meeting comes as the US increases pressure on Venezuela by cracking down on drug trafficking ships and strengthening military deployments in the Caribbean region. Over the weekend, Trump also issued widespread warnings on social media, cautioning airlines, pilots, and criminal organizations to avoid Venezuelan airspace.
