National Market Supervision System Holds Seminar on Regulating Direct Selling and Combating Pyramid Schemes

On June 11, a symposium on regulating direct sales and cracking down on pyramid schemes was held in Haikou, Hainan Province, by the national market supervision system. The meeting fully implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, summarized and exchanged experiences and practices in handling pyramid schemes and illegal direct sales cases, and discussed and arranged key tasks for the next phase. The meeting pointed out that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council attach great importance to cracking down on pyramid schemes. Market supervision departments at all levels should continuously deepen their ideological understanding, improve their political stance, resolutely unify their thoughts and actions with the decisions and arrangements of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council, adhere to the concept of supervision for the people, practice the correct concept of political achievements, further improve the supervision mechanism, enhance law enforcement capabilities, and with a strong sense of political responsibility and pragmatic and efficient work measures, promote the implementation and effectiveness of various tasks in regulating direct sales and cracking down on pyramid schemes. The meeting emphasized that market supervision departments at all levels should focus on case investigations, strengthen the collection and verification of clues, adhere to integrated advancement of online and offline operations, focus on major case investigations, and effectively improve the quality and effectiveness of cracking down and rectifying. It is necessary to focus on direct sales supervision, continuously strengthen dynamic supervision, strengthen supervision and guidance, resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers, promote industry norms and healthy development through stronger supervision. It is necessary to focus on key populations, improve the awareness and ability of key populations such as the elderly and unemployed college students to identify and resist pyramid schemes through strengthening risk analysis, releasing typical cases, strengthening publicity and education, and creating a good atmosphere for the whole society to prevent and resist pyramid schemes. Comrades from the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Commerce, and other related units attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Market supervision departments from ten provinces and municipalities, including Shanghai, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Ningxia, and Xinjiang, exchanged speeches.
