From January to April 2026, China's total service import and export volume was 2.48532 trillion RMB, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. Among them, exports were 985 billion RMB, an increase of 15%; imports were 1.50032 trillion RMB, a decrease of 0.8%.
The head of the Department of Trade in Services of the Ministry of Commerce introduces the development of service trade from January to April 2026. From January to April 2026, China's total service import and export volume was 2.48532 trillion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 4.9%. Among them, exports were 985 billion yuan, an increase of 15%; imports were 1.50032 trillion yuan, a decrease of 0.8%. The service trade deficit was 515.32 billion yuan, a decrease of 139.74 billion yuan compared to the same period last year. The main features are as follows:
Knowledge-intensive service exports maintained rapid growth. From January to April, the import and export volume of knowledge-intensive services was 1.10418 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.1%, accounting for 44.4% of the total service import and export volume. Knowledge-intensive service exports were 544.09 billion yuan, an increase of 11.7%, with the fastest growing sectors being personal cultural and entertainment services and intellectual property usage fees, with growth rates of 39.5% and 20.8% respectively; knowledge-intensive service imports were 560.09 billion yuan, a decrease of 0.7%.
Exports of travel services and imports of transportation services grew rapidly. From January to April, travel service exports were 147.15 billion yuan, an increase of 30.4%, the fastest growing sector among the top five service exports; transportation service imports were 316.45 billion yuan, an increase of 24.9%, the fastest growing sector among the top five service imports.
