According to reports, due to a shortage of internal staff in investment banks, mainland China's two major investment banks, CICC and China Securities Co., Ltd., retired as the overall coordinators for the IPO of semiconductor CIM manufacturer Semit on March 6th and March 8th, respectively. The reports indicated that it is not yet clear why these investment banks have abandoned the Semit transaction, whether it is due to the excessive workload of key personnel. In the original IPO underwriting team of Semit, Haitong Intl, China Securities Co., Ltd., and CICC served as joint sponsors and overall coordinators, with Shenwan Hongyuan Securities (Hong Kong) and Futu Securities serving as overall coordinators. After the change, Haitong Intl, Shenwan Hongyuan Securities (Hong Kong), and Futu Securities remained as overall coordinators. The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission issued a regulatory letter to sponsors in January, explicitly stating that if each key person supervises six or more active listing activities concurrently, the sponsor will be considered to lack sufficient resources and will need to submit a correction and resource plan within two weeks. It also indicated that it will soon conduct thematic inspections on sponsors. According to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange disclosure on September 19, 2025, Semit submitted an application for listing on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, with Haitong Intl, CITIC SEC, and China Securities Co., Ltd. jointly acting as sponsors.
