On Tuesday, the three major US stock indexes opened significantly lower, with the Nasdaq dropping 1.5%. Tech giants like NVIDIA Corporation (NVDA.US), Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US), Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN.US), and Meta (META.US) all fell more than 2%, while Alphabet Inc. Class C (GOOGL.US) and Microsoft Corporation (MSFT.US) fell nearly 2%, and Apple Inc. (AAPL.US) fell almost 1%.
In terms of news, Danish Minister for Economic Affairs Stephanie Los stated that the European Union must retain all possible means of response after US President Trump threatened to acquire Greenland. Los said, "At the moment, we should not exclude any possibilities. We do not want the situation to escalate, but we must retain all possible means."
She pointed out that the EU is prepared to impose retaliatory tariffs on US goods worth 93 billion euros, approximately 69 billion Danish kroner. Los called for a dialogue with the US to avoid escalating a trade war and prevent negative impacts on both sides of the Atlantic.
