The person in charge of the Department of Trade in Services of the Ministry of Commerce introduced the development of service trade from January to July 2025. From January to July 2025, China's service trade steadily increased, with the total amount of service imports and exports reaching 4,571.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.2%. Among them, exports were 1,998.3 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3%; imports were 2,579.86 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3%. The service trade deficit was 581.56 billion yuan, a decrease of 183.62 billion yuan from the same period last year. The main characteristics are as follows:
Knowledge-intensive service trade continues to grow. From January to July, the import and export of knowledge-intensive services reached 1,775.6 billion yuan, an increase of 6.8%. Among them, the import and export of other commercial services, telecommunications, computer and information services were 750.97 billion yuan and 626.8 billion yuan, with growth rates of 3.4% and 12.6% respectively. The export of knowledge-intensive services was 1,025.33 billion yuan, an increase of 8.6%; the import of knowledge-intensive services was 750.27 billion yuan, an increase of 4.6%; the surplus was 275.06 billion yuan, an increase of 48.27 billion yuan from the same period last year.
Travel services export grew the fastest. From January to July, travel services maintained rapid growth, with imports and exports reaching 1,259.46 billion yuan, an increase of 10.4%. Among them, exports grew by 62.9% and imports grew by 3.9%.
