The meeting pointed out that from January to July 2025, China's installed capacity and power generation of renewable energy will steadily increase, achieving new breakthroughs. The newly installed capacity of renewable energy will reach 283 million kilowatts, with a total installed capacity reaching 2.171 billion kilowatts, accounting for nearly 60% of the country's total installed capacity.
On August 29, the National Energy Administration held a national renewable energy power development and construction (August) dispatch video conference. The meeting pointed out that from January to July 2025, China's renewable energy installed capacity and power generation have steadily increased, achieving new breakthroughs. The new installed capacity of renewable energy reached 283 million kilowatts, with a total installed capacity reaching 2.171 billion kilowatts, accounting for nearly 60% of the country's total installed capacity; the power generation reached 2.18 trillion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year increase of 15.2%, close to 40% of the total national power generation, surpassing the sum of the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry and urban and rural residents during the same period; wind and solar power generation reached 1.36 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 24.9% of the national power generation, with an increasingly prominent role in ensuring supply and promoting transformation. The meeting emphasized the need to adapt to new situations and requirements, focusing on four key areas of work. First, accelerate the implementation of the "Notice on Deepening the Market-oriented Reform of the New Energy On-grid Electricity Price to Promote the High-quality Development of New Energy." To achieve the "dual carbon" goal, new energy must overall maintain a stable development pace and rapid development speed. All regions should promote the specific implementation plan as soon as possible, organize competitive bidding mechanisms promptly, stabilize market expectations, and further create a favorable market environment. Second, accelerate the formulation of the renewable energy planning for the "15th Five-Year Plan." Renewable energy planning should be coordinated with energy planning, power planning, etc. National planning should guide local planning, and the development scale, carrying capacity, industrial structure, etc. in the planning should match the local resources, economic growth needs, etc. Third, accelerate the development of new models and formats of renewable energy and use a series of supporting policies that have been introduced. Research policy measures to actively promote the development of emerging industries such as offshore wind power and concentrated solar power. Fourth, accelerate the cultivation of new types of competitive, innovative, and dynamic power entities, energy enterprises should actively adapt to the needs of the new energy system construction and market development, and improve their own market competitiveness.
