Iran has stated that despite its readiness to discuss its nuclear program with European, Russian, and Chinese officials this week, the country has no intention of restarting negotiations with the United States. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said in a TV news conference on Monday, "We currently have no plans to hold talks with the United States." Earlier, Iranian state television reported that Iranian diplomats planned to hold nuclear talks with British, French, and German diplomats in Istanbul on Friday. Baghaei said that Iran's deputy foreign minister will "seriously raise" Tehran's demands during the talks. He did not specify the exact demands, but said Tehran will condemn the stance of these countries during last month's U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran. Baghaei also warned that if these three European countries (also known as the "E3") attempt to reimpose UN sanctions through a so-called "snapback" mechanism, their rights to play any role in the nuclear talks and their ability to invoke any clauses or procedures will be compromised. Baghaei said that on Tuesday Tehran will invite Russian and Chinese officials for talks, with the agenda including nuclear issues and the possibility of implementing more sanctions.
