Comcast’s Peacock to Raise Subscription Rates, Launch New "Select" Tier
Peacock, the streaming platform operated by Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, is set to increase its monthly subscription prices in late July while piloting a budget-friendly "Select" tier. The move reflects the platform’s growing investment in live sports and content diversity. Peacock will raise its ad-supported Premium plan from $7.99 to $10.99 per month, and elevate its ad-free Premium Plus tier to $16.99 per month, both changes taking effect on July 23, 2025. This represents a $3 monthly increase and follows a previous $2 bump before the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In addition, Peacock plans to pilot a new "Select" tier at $7.99 per month, aimed at fans of NBC and Bravo series. The stripped-back package will include current season episodes and a curated library of older titles.
The company reported 41 million paid subscribers in Q1 2025, up from 36 million at the end of 2024. Peacock also claims it will offer more live sports coverage by 2026 than several major platforms combined—including Amazon Prime, Hulu, Netflix, Paramount+, HBO Max, and Apple TV.
Peacock’s content lineup ranges from reality staples like Love Island USA to feature films such as Wicked and Nosferatu. The price adjustments are intended to support the platform’s expanded investment in exclusive programming and live sports rights—such as its multibillion-dollar NBA agreement and upcoming event streamingWhile this marks the service’s largest price increase to date, Peacock hopes the new Select tier offers a lower-cost alternative for viewers primarily interested in broadcast series .
