On May 24th, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu attended the launch ceremony of the "Shopping in China 2025 Greater Bay Area Consumer Season" and delivered a speech. He stated that Hong Kong will make good use of its superior geographical location and first-class transportation and logistics infrastructure to develop Hong Kong into a cross-border e-commerce logistics distribution center within the region. At the same time, the scope of the funding for the e-commerce Yit Plan under the "BUD Special Fund" will be expanded to cover more areas. Through events such as the "Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo" organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and the implementation of the new "e-commerce express" service, efforts will be made to enhance the exposure and competitiveness of Hong Kong brands in overseas markets, and assist businesses in expanding their e-commerce operations. He mentioned that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has a population of over 86 million and a GDP of over 14 trillion RMB. It is not only one of the regions with the highest degree of openness and strongest economic vitality in the country, but its thriving consumer market also provides important support for the country to build a new development pattern. In the future, the Hong Kong SAR government will continue to accelerate industrial digital transformation, strengthen digital infrastructure construction, research and promote the ecological development of data transactions, and explore convenient arrangements for cross-border data flow as a pilot in the Greater Bay Area to promote the integrated development of digital economy and real economy.
