On May 23rd, the State Administration for Market Regulation held a guidance meeting on anti-monopoly compliance in the public utility sector, providing guidance to operators in this area on strengthening anti-monopoly compliance. The meeting emphasized the need for operators in the public utility sector to enhance their sense of responsibility, attach great importance to anti-monopoly compliance work, adhere to lawful and compliant operations, and consciously maintain a fair market competition order. They were instructed to compare the Anti-Monopoly Law of the People's Republic of China and other laws and regulations, as well as recent typical monopoly cases in the public utility sector, in order to comprehensively identify potential monopoly issues in their daily operations. Operators were urged to promptly address problems and deficiencies, effectively prevent risks, regulate business practices, and prevent and stop the occurrence of monopoly behavior. They were also encouraged to improve anti-monopoly compliance systems, strengthen compliance risk control, promote effective compliance management, enhance awareness of maintaining fair market competition, and continuously improve anti-monopoly compliance capabilities.
The State Administration for Market Regulation will conscientiously implement the decisions and arrangements of the central government and the State Council, adhere to both regulatory standardization and development promotion, continuously improve fair competition system rules, strengthen anti-monopoly oversight and law enforcement in the public utility sector, make good use of hierarchical regulatory tools, effectively safeguard market fair competition and consumer interests, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of public utilities.
