According to data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau, the total number of registered motor vehicles in Macau by the end of the first quarter of 2025 was 252,523, increasing by 0.7% annually.
According to the data from the Statistics and Census Bureau of Macau, by the end of the first quarter of 2025, there were a total of 252,523 registered motor vehicles in Macau, representing an annual increase of 0.7%. The cross-border car flow in the first quarter increased by 22.9% annually to 2,555,372 trips; ferry flights increased by 1% to 19,988 flights; and commercial flights at Macau International Airport increased by 2.4% to 13,621 flights. The number of mobile phone users (1,458,046 households) and internet registered users (797,077 households) at the end of the first quarter increased by 4.5% and 7.7% respectively compared to the previous year. In terms of registered motor vehicles in the first quarter, there was a 2.7% annual decrease to 3,003 vehicles (including 995 electric vehicles, accounting for 33.1%); in March, there was a 0.1% decrease to 1,007 vehicles (including 331 electric vehicles, accounting for 32.9%). There were a total of 3,626 traffic accidents in the first quarter, a decrease of 3.4% annually, involving 1,296 injuries; in March, there were 1,227 traffic accidents, a decrease of 5.7%, resulting in 444 injuries. In terms of cross-border traffic flow, the cross-border car flow in the first quarter of 2025 totaled 2,555,372 trips, an increase of 22.9% annually; the flow of light passenger cars increased by 24.2% to 2,422,574 trips, including the single-passenger vehicles entering and leaving Hengqin from Macau (486,000 trips) and the traffic of "Macau cars heading north" entering and leaving the border (399,000 trips), which increased by 45% and 16% respectively. The number of ferry flights (19,988 flights) and commercial flights at Macau International Airport (13,621 flights) in the first quarter increased by 1% and 2.4% respectively compared to the previous year. In March, the cross-border car flow (899,343 trips) and commercial flights at Macau International Airport (4,456 flights) increased by 26.2% and 0.4% respectively, while ferry flights (6,700 flights) decreased by 0.2%. In terms of cross-border cargo volume, the gross weight of land container cargo in the first quarter decreased by 18.6% annually to 13,548 tons, and the port container cargo weight also decreased by 12.3% to 40,525 tons. The gross weight of air cargo decreased by 9.4% annually to 20,145 tons, with exports (17,722 tons) decreasing by 13.3%, and imports (1,324 tons) and transshipment (1,100 tons) increasing by 19% and 59.2% respectively. In March, the gross weight of land (5,712 tons) and port (13,621 tons) container cargo decreased by 14% and 9.9% annually, while the gross weight of air cargo (8,801 tons) increased by 1.7%. At the end of the first quarter of 2025, the number of fixed-line telephone users decreased by 6.7% annually to 80,382 households; mobile phone users increased by 4.5% to 1,458,046 households, with postpaid users (1,043,523 households) and prepaid card users (414,523 households) increasing by 2.6% and 9.7% respectively. The number of internet registered users at the end of the quarter increased by 7.7% annually to 797,077 households; the internet usage hours in the first quarter decreased by 0.3% to 430 million hours, while in March it increased by 2.8% to 150 million hours.
