US media disclosed on the 3rd that The Walt Disney Company plans to lay off thousands of employees globally and has asked some management to cut annual costs by 20%. It is not yet certain which departments and businesses of Disney will be affected by this round of layoffs, nor is it clear which countries and regions' employees will be impacted. As of the end of the last fiscal year, the company employed approximately 231,000 people worldwide. The Wall Street Journal previously reported that Disney intends to restructure its television division and reduce staff in its legal and global affairs departments.
