The dollar weakened amid concerns over the outlook for artificial intelligence investment and investor unease ahead of Tuesday's U.S. midterm elections. Apple (AAPL.O) warned on Monday that the cost of running AI tools would squeeze profit margins, intensifying market worries about whether AI investment is sustainable. AI model developer Anthropic posted an operating loss in the third quarter due to a costly data center agreement; rival OpenAI's latest funding round raised less than half of its initial $30 billion target in actual proceeds. For the dollar, higher oil prices provided a tailwind. International oil prices turned higher after the U.S. attacked Iran's Qeshm Island on Monday. However, uncertainty over the outcome of the U.S. midterm elections kept investors cautious. The dollar index DXY fell 0.12% intraday to 101.684; on Monday the index had touched 101.426, its lowest level in a month.
