According to Nikkei, Palantir (PLTR.N) CEO Karp said Japan may gain an advantage in developing an AI technology stack suited to its own national defense needs, signaling the company's eagerness to supply AI systems to the Japan Self-Defense Forces. He stressed that Japan's private sector needs to develop, train, and control its own AI models to protect its intellectual property. It is said that the U.S. military uses Palantir's technology to cut the time required to select targets from 12 hours to just 1 minute. Karp said the challenge for Japan's next-generation defense systems lies in developing an AI product specifically for defense, rather than building systems for a massive military apparatus as the United States does.
