Meta Platforms (META.O) is considering issuing at least $20 billion in cross-border investment-grade bonds, with plans to enter both the dollar and euro bond markets simultaneously, according to people familiar with the matter. The exact size has not been finalized and may be further expanded depending on investor demand. Meta has mandated Citigroup and Morgan Stanley to arrange investor calls, with dollar-denominated bonds expected to have maturities of 5 to 30 years and euro-denominated bonds about 4 to 38 years. This marks Meta's first large-scale bond issuance in six months and its first-ever euro bond sale. As tech giants continue to borrow to finance data centers and chip procurement, market concerns over returns on AI investments have intensified, cooling demand for related bonds and prompting investors to demand higher yields. Meta has previously issued $25 billion in common stock and $12.5 billion in preferred stock, and plans to raise up to $60 billion through at-the-market equity offering programs.
