CATL seeks to expand Argentina grid energy storage business, targeting mining energy storage opportunities.
CATL Latin America General Manager Harry Liu and other executives said at an event in Buenos Aires that the company is in talks to supply several companies that won Argentina's energy storage tenders. CATL has participated in four energy storage projects for Argentina's power grid. Two of them are with Central Puerto, one with Edison, a new company backed by the Neuss family, and the fourth is unnamed. As grid operator Cammesa seeks to increase energy storage capacity, CATL is interested in future related opportunities. CATL is also targeting opportunities to provide energy storage systems for mines. CATL recently established a business team in Argentina, staffed with sales and technical personnel.
