On October 27 local time, global residential cruise operator Villa Vie Residences announced that its "Odyssey" ship has suspended operations in Cambodia due to a sharp rise in fuel costs. Company founder Mikael Petterson said that at the time of the suspension there were about 200 residents on board, and the company will cover their temporary accommodation and local transportation costs, but will not provide funds for leaving Cambodia. The company said fuel costs have risen by more than 300% since the U.S.-Israel war against Iran began at the end of February, with average monthly fuel expenditure per cabin rising from a historical average of about $1,800 to as high as $8,000; the company is seeking financing to leave the area as soon as possible and is evaluating restructuring and recapitalization plans within the next 60 days.
