MIIT: Build around 500 national-level zero-carbon factories and zero-carbon computing facilities by 2030
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently issued the Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Establishment of a Dual-Control Working System for Carbon Emissions in the Industry and Information Technology Sector, which sets out the key task objectives for dual control of carbon emissions in the industry and information technology sector. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China's carbon emission control capacity in key industries and sectors will continue to strengthen, the carbon emission management level of industrial enterprises and parks will improve significantly, the carbon footprint management system for industrial products will be gradually refined, and systems for carbon emission accounting, evaluation, and assessment in the industry and information technology sector will be basically established. By 2030, the plan is to formulate and implement around 400 carbon footprint accounting rules and standards for key industrial products, build around 500 national-level zero-carbon factories and zero-carbon computing facilities, reduce carbon dioxide emissions per unit of value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size by more than 17% compared with 2025, and lower energy consumption per unit of value-added of industrial enterprises above designated size by more than 10% compared with 2025.
