MIIT: Strengthen innovative design and R&D testing and verification of automotive products

Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin stated at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference held in Beijing on the 21st that China will focus on key areas such as energy and power, intelligent chassis, and intelligent connectivity, and support leading enterprises in taking the lead to form innovation consortia. China will carry out the promotion and implementation of mandatory national standards for autonomous driving, accelerate the development of standards in key areas such as automated parking, operation monitoring, and data security, and accelerate the introduction of relevant management regulations on strengthening innovative design of automotive products and R&D testing and verification. At the same time, China will actively participate in the formulation of international economic and trade rules, promote the effective alignment of domestic standards with international rules, support Chinese and foreign enterprises in deepening R&D, investment, and industrial cooperation, jointly create high-quality products, and work together to explore the global market.
