The BBC announced on October 20 that, in order to complete a two-year 500 million cost-saving plan, it plans to shut down two of its television channels in spring 2027. In addition, the BBC said it will also close Radio 4 Extra, a channel that mainly broadcasts spoken-word programs from the BBC archive, including comedy, drama, and documentaries.
