According to a report by the German Press Agency (dpa), Amazon (AMZN.O) plans to invest approximately 16 billion euros (about 21 billion U.S. dollars) in Germany next year. Amazon said the investment covers "jobs, technology, and infrastructure," including "the expansion of data centers and AI infrastructure, high-speed satellite internet service through Amazon Leo, new logistics projects across the country, and a new round of large-scale production plans for Prime Video." David Zapolsky, Amazon's head of global affairs and legal, said in a statement: "Germany is a hub of innovation and one of the most attractive investment opportunities in Europe. That is why we have invested more than 100 billion euros (about 133 billion U.S. dollars) here since 2010, and we plan to add another 16 billion euros in investment by 2027." We want businesses, communities, and creators in Germany to have the infrastructure and tools to compete and grow. According to the company, approximately 4.8 billion euros (about 6.4 billion U.S. dollars) of the planned investment will be used to expand Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud and AI infrastructure in Germany. The company said about 3,000 employees currently work for AWS in Frankfurt.
