As the share of new energy vehicles continues to expand, fuel-powered cars are accelerating their contraction in the Chinese market. Data recently released by the Passenger Car Market Information Joint Committee of the China Automobile Dealers Association shows that in September 2026, the sales share of fuel-powered cars in the Chinese market fell below one-third for the first time, while the overall penetration rate of new energy vehicles climbed to a new high of 67%. Musk reposted the relevant data and commented, "China's dependence on oil is declining rapidly."
