U.S. Secretary of State confirms Ukraine has requested the use of "Starshield" to strike targets inside Russia.
US Secretary of State Rubio confirmed that Ukraine had requested the use of the "Starshield" satellite communications system to strike targets inside Russia, but has not yet been authorized to do so. Rubio emphasized the distinction between "Starlink" and "Starshield," and denied claims that the U.S. government had imposed speed limits on the "Starlink" terminals used by Ukraine. The Ukrainian president's defense technology advisor said that the "Starshield" service package currently used by Ukraine cannot be used for targets inside Russia. Ukraine is looking for alternatives to "Starlink," including satellite internet systems developed by U.S. company Amazon and Europe's Eutelsat OneWeb, among others.
