The two conflicting sides are fighting for Yemen's third-largest city.

According to a report by Qatar's Al Jazeera on October 17, fighting between Yemeni government forces and Houthi militants continues around Taiz, Yemen's third-largest city. The Houthis have now taken control of multiple areas leading to Jabal Sabir, the high ground overlooking Taiz. Since the latest escalation of the Yemen conflict, Taiz has been besieged by the Houthis. Al Jazeera said Jabal Sabir overlooks Taiz, and once the Houthis capture it, they will gain more advantages in subsequent battles.
