Security Council Holds Sixth Round of Straw Poll for UN Secretary-General Selection

On the afternoon of October 16 local time, the Security Council held the sixth round of indicative voting on the selection of the next UN Secretary-General. This round of voting, for the first time, used color-coded ballots to distinguish the votes of the five permanent members. To win the Security Council's final recommendation, a candidate must receive at least 9 "encourage" votes in the Security Council and face no opposition from any permanent member.
