AWS CFO: The AI infrastructure investment boom is sustainable.
Amazon Web Services' chief financial officer said in an interview that the spending boom in AI infrastructure and services is sustainable because it is driving innovation of real value. Some investors and analysts have begun to worry about an AI bubble, focusing on swelling debt, corporate valuations, circular financing deals, and whether revenue growth can keep pace with massive infrastructure investment. AWS CFO John Felton said the company's AI capital expenditure has already generated returns, and experience has proven that heavy investment in AI can yield gains. He suggested that a mature way to view AI is to treat it as a productivity-enhancing tool, not merely a cost-saving tool. Felton said AI's value lies in creating "richer customer experiences, better products, more revenue-generating features." He added that within his team, "AI is a fantastic burden-reduction tool" that allows team professionals to "redirect their time to more high-value-added work."
