Beijing promotes three-dimensional improvement of residential quality, encouraging "greenery outside the window and parks at the doorstep"
To promote high-level, refined design for newly built residential projects and improve the quality of residential public spaces, the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources recently issued the "Opinions on Improving the Quality of Residential Public Spaces in the City," proposing that raised-platform design be prioritized on residential land with terrain elevation differences, along waterfront lines, or located in rail transit "micro-centers." It sets out multiple requirements, including rational integration between communities and urban space, rules for calculating technical indicators, composite use of three-dimensional space, and the creation of open urban spaces. What is raised-platform design and what is a raised-platform community? Raised-platform design generally refers to a residential building form in which the main building volume is elevated by means of a ground-level open framework, with the surface of the raised platform serving as the outdoor ground level and public activity space of the residential buildings. This helps expand rich and convenient activity scenarios for residents and realize a livable experience in which residents can see greenery when they open their windows and enter a garden when they go downstairs.
