CSC Financial: The likelihood of this round of French bond yield increases escalating into a European debt crisis 2.0 is relatively low.

A CITIC Securities research report points out that the current rise in French government bond yields is driven by a combination of global drag, fiscal risks, and crowded positioning, and the likelihood of it evolving into a second eurozone debt crisis is relatively low. Compared with 20102012, the current eurozone economic fundamentals, banking system resilience, and sovereign debt risk response mechanisms have all improved markedly, weakening the basis for the spread of systemic risk. On the asset side, French sovereign bond risk may increase demand for U.S. Treasuries as a safe haven, strengthen the recent downward momentum in EUR/USD, and impose some constraint on the pace of subsequent ECB rate hikes.
