The UK summons Iran's ambassador to the UK and sanctions two Iranian nationals.
British Foreign Secretary Miliband said that the UK has formally summoned Iran's ambassador to the UK, Ali Mousavi, to lodge a strong protest over Iran's ongoing so-called "malicious activities." The British government also announced that day that it would impose sanctions on two Iranian nationals, including immediately freezing their assets, banning them from entering the UK, and disqualifying them from serving as company directors. The two are Ruhollah Bazghandi, head of counterintelligence operations for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Shahram Ali Reza Tamarzadeh Jaki, suspected of assisting the Zindashti criminal network. The UK side said the criminal network is involved in multiple plots targeting Iranian dissidents.
