On October 9, 2026, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized a quarterly nuclear safety situation analysis activity in Beijing. In the third quarter, the entire industry implemented nuclear safety responsibilities and enhanced risk prevention capabilities, and China's nuclear and radiation safety situation was generally stable. Under the new situation, it is necessary to adhere to a problem-oriented approach, identify problems early and address them while they are small, enforce strict and detailed measures, and track issues on a list to promote closed-loop rectification. Adapt to the situation of both a construction and commissioning peak in nuclear power, strengthen the safety management of operating units, especially newly commissioned units, and improve the effectiveness of foreign object prevention and control. Strengthen the management of key links such as civil construction, construction, installation, and commissioning, and ensure future high-level safety through high-quality construction. Effectively respond to possible seasonal risks such as marine organism outbreaks in southern regions and low-temperature freezing in northern regions, and strengthen standby duty for major events. Solidly carry out work related to nuclear safety scientific research, promote early implementation and results, and improve technical support capabilities. Accelerate capacity building such as the nuclear power safety and health records system, and promote the application of results. Ensure the implementation of the adjustment of nuclear safety regulatory agencies and build a modern nuclear safety regulatory system.

On the 10th, the State Administration for Market Regulation held a press conference, at which it provided information on the recent public hearing held by the administration regarding Meituan's acquisition of Maiyada equity. This was China's first public hearing in a concentration of undertakings review, and all parties at the hearing fully expressed their views, achieving the expected results. Meituan's acquisition of Maiyada equity was China's first concentration of undertakings case in the platform sector that did not meet the filing thresholds stipulated by the State Council but was required to be filed in accordance with the law. According to Xie Fang, deputy director of the Second Antimonopoly Bureau of the State Administration for Market Regulation, upon review, the concentration may have the effect of eliminating or restricting competition in China's domestic delivery aggregation platform services market, may affect small and medium-sized merchants' independent choice of delivery capacity, and may crowd out other third-party delivery capacity providers; at the same time, the concentration further strengthens Meituan's market control in China's domestic online food delivery platform and instant retail service platform markets, and may raise barriers to entry in the relevant markets. The State Administration for Market Regulation promptly informed the filing party of the review opinion that this case may have the effect of eliminating or restricting competition, and the filing party submitted a conditional commitment proposal.
