BP said it has temporarily cut oil production in the Gulf of Mexico and evacuated all workers from the Na Kika and Thunder Horse offshore platforms in response to Hurricane Isaias. Oil producers in the Gulf of Mexico are cutting production and evacuating personnel from offshore facilities as the storm intensifies. The hurricane is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast late Friday or early Saturday. BP said Thursday it has also evacuated non-essential workers from the Argos, Atlantis and Mad Dog platforms. Meanwhile, Shell, Chevron and Harbour Energy have also suspended production at some facilities and evacuated some workers. The U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said that as of Thursday morning, about 1.28 million barrels per day of offshore crude production in the Gulf of Mexico had been shut in, accounting for 62.9% of current total offshore crude output.
