In late New York trading on Thursday, spot gold rose 0.52% to $4,132.62 per ounce, trading in a high range for most of the session. Spot silver fell 1.04% to $59.1632 per ounce, trading in a low range for more than half of the session. COMEX copper futures fell 1.37% to $6.5595 per pound, with a notable rally in early Asia-Pacific trading that refreshed the daily high at $6.7630 at 09:47 Beijing time, followed by a sustained decline. The Philadelphia Gold and Silver Index, which trades during U.S. stock market hours, closed up 1.41%, the Materials Index, which trades during U.S. stock market hours, closed up 0.58%, and the Metals and Mining Index closed down 0.43%. The NYSE Arca Gold Miners Index, which trades throughout the global market day, rose 0.96% to 2,479.37 points, rebounding significantly after the U.S. market opened. The State Street Metals and Mining ETF closed down 0.22% at $104.61.
