During the National Day holiday, the auto market entered the traditional key window of the "Golden September and Silver October." Visits to multiple offline stores of new energy vehicle brands in Shanghai revealed that, supported by new model launches, local car purchase subsidies, and limited-time promotions by automakers during the holiday, store foot traffic rebounded significantly. "During the National Day period, test drives were basically fully booked all day, and it was common for one group to finish a test drive while the next group of customers was already waiting. Many families came together to look at cars, and most customers came for trade-in subsidies and district-level subsidies. They first asked us to help calculate all the discounts clearly before making a decision," said a salesperson at a NIO experience center in Jiading. During the National Day period, the number of customers received at the store rose about 30% compared with an ordinary weekend, with demand for trade-ins from gasoline cars to electric vehicles particularly prominent. Store foot traffic has recovered, but order conversion still takes time. Multiple salespeople said that consumers are generally rational about comparing prices and will visit multiple stores to compare quotes horizontally and verify subsidy application conditions. Some popular new models are in short supply, and ordering a car requires a wait of several weeks, which also affects immediate transactions to some extent. (Securities Times).
