Ecuador hit by heavy rainfall, over 15,000 people affected
Affected by the El Nio phenomenon, Ecuador is experiencing severe extreme weather. For days, the country has been hit by continuous heavy rainfall, and 21 of its 24 provinces have experienced disasters such as floods, waterlogging, and landslides, with more than 15,000 people affected. The latest statistics show that since Ecuador issued a red alert for the El Nio phenomenon on August 29, the country has reported more than 200 related disaster incidents. Currently, more than 15,000 people in the country have been affected, with Esmeraldas Province in the northwest being the hardest hit. Seven rivers in the province have flooded, while water levels in another 13 rivers are still rising.
