Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for the Houthi armed group in Yemen, said in a statement posted on a social media platform on the evening of the 6th that the group had repelled multiple advances by Yemeni government forces backed by Saudi Arabia toward the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The statement said the Houthis clashed with government forces attempting to advance toward positions near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, forcing them to retreat. During the fighting, the Houthis fired 10 ballistic missiles at government troop assembly points and reinforcements, killing and wounding dozens of government soldiers and destroying multiple military vehicles. In another statement describing the battle situation that day, Saree said the Houthis had repelled government forces attempting to attack Houthi positions in Taiz Province.
