Follow-up inspection on residential water, electricity, and gas metering remediation: 106,200 issues rectified

The reporter learned today from the State Administration for Market Regulation that in the first three quarters of 2026, the comprehensive rectification "look-back" on water, electricity, and gas metering issues for residents nationwide achieved notable results. A full review was conducted of problems identified during the 2025 screening, ledger-based management was implemented, and issues were cleared one by one against the accounts. A total of 106,200 problems were rectified, benefiting 27.4533 million people. At the same time, market regulation departments in various regions focused on key links such as the production sources of civil "three meters," mandatory verification, and scheduled replacement upon expiry, and strictly investigated and dealt with illegal acts such as metering fraud, "installation before verification," and "failure to replace upon expiry." In the first three quarters of 2026, nationwide inspections cumulatively covered 15,700 public water, electricity, and gas supply enterprises, 33.6044 million in-use measuring instruments were verified, 1,455 cases of metering violations in the water, electricity, and gas sector were investigated and handled, with fines and confiscations totaling 31.7206 million yuan. More than 20 million meters that had expired or were inaccurate were rotated or replaced, and the pass rate of supervisory spot checks remained above 99%.
