Two-year U.S. Treasury yields fell more than 9.5 basis points, while 10-year U.S. Treasury yields briefly hit their highest level since 2002.
In late New York trading on Thursday, the U.S. 10-year benchmark Treasury yield fell 4.42 basis points to 5.2407%, trading within a range of 5.3402%-5.2049% during the day. It dropped significantly in the early U.S. session and approached the Q1 2002 peak of 5.4730%, the Q4 2000 peak of 5.91%, and the Q3 2000 high of 6.1820% at 15:30 Beijing time. The 2-year Treasury yield fell 9.56 basis points to 4.7914%, rising to 4.9225% at 15:26, then continued to decline, refreshing a daily low of 4.7415% at 01:30, as a series of Fed officials' remarks weighed on the prospects for an FOMC rate hike. The 30-year Treasury yield fell 1.84 basis points to 5.6126%.
