OpenAI launches always-on AI agent Dots, introduces new $500 paid tier.

OpenAI released an always-on AI agent designed to proactively handle work on users' behalf, competing with companies such as Meta Platforms in the growing field of AI digital assistants. OpenAI said Tuesday that the product, called Dots, can operate computers and pull information from various connected applications to conduct research, draft documents and develop software. Users can direct and interact with the agent by sending it messages through ChatGPT. The new tool was unveiled at OpenAI's developer day event on Tuesday, alongside an updated version of its Sol model and a shared space for teams to collaborate with AI. OpenAI also adjusted its subscription plans: it introduced a new premium $500 tier for the first time, offering higher usage limits and faster processing speeds, while lowering some usage limits on its $200 plan.
