China's fishery resources and aquatic ecological environment remain stable, latest bulletin released.

Today, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment jointly released the China Fishery Ecological Environment Status Bulletin. The Bulletin shows that in 2025, China's fishery resources and aquatic ecological environment remained stable. In 2025, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs organized 48 monitoring stations of the national fishery ecological environment monitoring network to carry out fishery resource surveys in the four major sea areas and important river basins such as the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, and conducted routine monitoring of 18 indicators, including fishery water quality, sediments, and plankton, in 164 important fishery waters. The Bulletin shows that the concentrations of zinc, lead, mercury, and arsenic in all monitored waters were better than the evaluation standards; the proportion of areas exceeding standards for chemical oxygen demand and petroleum substances in important marine fishery waters decreased by 59.3% and 45.7%, respectively, and petroleum substances in important inland fishery waters decreased by 34.6%.
