Anthropic and Akamai reach an $11.6 billion AI compute agreement.

Anthropic signed a seven-year, $11.6 billion computing power contract with Akamai Technologies, further expanding its data center footprint. Under the agreement, Akamai will provide CPU computing power to Anthropic. In recent years, as CPUs have been used to support AI services, demand for these general-purpose chips in data centers has grown. Akamai also issued warrants to Anthropic, giving it the right to purchase Series B shares at $111.33 per share, convertible into 7.7 million shares of Akamai common stock. This is a further collaboration following the $1.8 billion computing power agreement the two parties reached earlier this year. As customer demand for the Claude model has surged in recent months, Anthropic has been aggressively procuring computing resources, with partners including Alphabet's Google and Musk's SpaceX.
