From September 22 to 24, the 2026 World New Energy Vehicle Congress was held in Haikou, Hainan. Attendees noted that the global new energy vehicle industry has moved beyond the policy-driven introductory and growth phases and is now entering a new stage of development driven by the market, widespread adoption, and high-quality iteration. As an important source of innovation, China has become a key cornerstone for the stable operation of the global automotive industry chain. "The global new energy vehicle industry has entered a new stage of widespread application," said Wan Gang, chairman of the World New Energy Vehicle Congress, at the event. In the first half of 2026, global new energy vehicle sales reached 11.234 million units, up 14% year on year, with market penetration rising to 24%; cumulative global sales of new energy vehicles have exceeded 94 million units, of which China's cumulative sales surpassed 62 million units, firmly maintaining its core position in the global market.
