The U.S. Department of Labor said on Thursday that, for the week ending September 12, seasonally adjusted initial state unemployment claims decreased by 10,000 to 196,000. Economists surveyed by the market had previously expected 208,000. Initial jobless claims fell to their lowest level since July, while continuing jobless claims dropped to a more than two-year low, further signaling labor market stability.
