Global Bank Energy Financing Surges 15% in 2025! Low-Carbon Financing Hits 5-Year High, Fossil Fuels Still Receive Substantial Funding Support
Zhitong Finance APP has learned that according to a latest study by BloombergNEF, global banks allocated 15% more capital to the energy sector last year than in 2024, with the scale of arranged and underwritten deals reaching $2.3 trillion. BloombergNEF wrote on Thursday that against the backdrop of demand growth driven by artificial intelligence (AI) data centers, cooling technology, and the adoption of electric vehicles, banks increased financing for low-carbon areas, with the scale of related deals rising 16% to the highest level in five years. At the same time, the scale of deals supporting oil, natural gas, and coal grew 13% last year.
