U.S. mortgage rates rise to 6.97%, a more than one-year high

Zhito Finance APP has learned that U.S. mortgage rates rose last week to their highest level in more than a year, dealing another blow to an already sluggish housing market. Data released by the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) on Wednesday showed that in the week ending September 11, the contract rate on 30-year mortgages rose 12 basis points to 6.97%, the highest since May 2025.
