TrendForce: Global data center electricity demand expected to grow 31% year-over-year in 2026; grid supply gap to widen from 2028

Zhito Finance APP has learned that according to the latest AI Server industry research by TrendForce, in order to meet the surging demand for AI applications, cloud service providers (CSPs) are accelerating the deployment of related infrastructure. TrendForce estimates that global data center power demand capacity will reach 161GW in 2026, an annual increase of about 31%, with the main source of growth being AI Servers, which are estimated to account for 33.4% of overall demand capacity. TrendForce divides data center power demand capacity into four major sources: in addition to General Servers, AI Servers, and other IT equipment, there are also non-IT equipment such as cooling and power supply systems.
