Report shows: China's catering industry demonstrates resilience in its development.

The "2026 China Catering Industry Annual Report," recently released by the China Hospitality Association and other organizations, shows that against the backdrop of intensifying market competition, multiple indicators including domestic catering revenue have improved, and the development of the catering industry has demonstrated resilience. At the same time, new supply and new scenarios are constantly emerging, injecting new momentum into the development of the catering industry. The report believes that China's catering industry is currently undergoing a structural transition from a period of rapid expansion to a period of mature adjustment. From the perspective of business formats, in 2025, fast food and snack outlets reached 3.516 million, accounting for 46.4% of all merchants; Chinese-style full-service restaurants and bakery and beverage outlets reached 1.1234 million and 1.0149 million respectively, remaining important pillars of the industry. From the perspective of cities, third-tier cities had the largest number of catering outlets, reaching 1.7152 million; the number of catering outlets in fifth-tier cities grew by 2.2%, achieving positive growth for three consecutive years.
