First standard for AI + brain-computer interface medical devices released

The National Medical Products Administration approved and released on the 14th China's third brain-computer interface medical device standard, which is also the world's first product standard for brain-computer interface medical devices that uses artificial intelligence technology to process EEG data. The new standard will officially take effect on September 1, 2027. The standard specifies the quality requirements and evaluation methods for EEG datasets used for artificial intelligence algorithms in the field of brain-computer interface medical devices, and applies to datasets used in the research and development, production, quality control, and other stages of brain-computer interface medical devices in which artificial intelligence algorithms perform post-processing on EEG signals.
